At Capital Training (SW) Limited we offer theory and hands-on practical training.  This 5 day intensive short course is designed so that you are involved at every stage and are participating throughout to acquire both knowledge and skills.

All aspects of your training Theory, practical and multi-choice exams (online and written) will be provided in our purpose built construction training centre. This ensures the standard of training given by our highly skilled instructors is of the highest quality and is equal to everyone, regardless of age, ability or gender.

Our Electrical training and its department adheres to City & Guilds and EAL requirements, therefore excellent facilities are in place for you to work through this intensive training course.

No previous experience is required to take part in this course.  The course is suitable to anyone who is looking to gain competence as a Domestic Installer whether you are a plumber, kitchen fitter or someone who is looking to start their own business and move forward and develop a career as an electrician.

During the sessions you will be taught how to:

  • Use hand tools, installation techniques, etc.
  • Install different wiring systems and containment.
  • Identify materials and quantities.
  • Fault diagnosis and rectification.
  • Overview of  three phase installations
  • Test, inspect and commission domestic installations.
  • Heath and safety, Electrical principles, Electrical regulations and Building regulations.

On completion of the course you will receive either a EAL certificate of competency as a domestic installer.  Throughout your training all tools and equipment will be fully provided and demonstrated, you are welcome to use your own tools and test equipment. (with no liability to Capital Training SW Ltd)

What do I need to bring?

You will need to wear safety boots for the duration of the course - you can either supply these yourself or purchase them from us at a cost of £15. Overalls are optional.

 


Electrics Pat Testing

No previous experience is required to take part in this course.  The course is suitable to anyone who is looking to complete an In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment.

During the course you will be taught:

  • Administration of inspection and testing.
  • The Law, Fixed electrical installation.
  • Types of: electrical equipment, electrical tests.
  • In-service inspection and testing procedures, training 
  • Test instruments, equipment construction
  • Visual inspection, combined inspection and testing.
  • British standards, Legislation and supplementary Regulations.

On completion of the course and a online multi-choice exam you will receive a City and Guilds 2377 Certificate of Competency.
Throughout your training all tools and equipment will be fully provided and demonstrated. You may also bring your own PAT test meter. (with no liability to Capital Training SW  Ltd).  

What do I need to bring?

You will need to bring a copy of the Code of Practice for In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment 3rd Edition.

At Capital Training (SW) Limited we offer the City & Guilds 17th Edition Wiring Regulations Course 2382 Full Course.   This 2 day intensive short course is designed to gain an understanding of the 17th Edition wiring regulations and become familiar with the layout, content and use of the regulations book.

Our Electrical training and its department adheres to City & Guilds requirements, therefore excellent facilities are in place for you to work through this intensive training course.

Course Aim

To gain an understanding of the 17th Edition wiring regulations and become familiar with the layout, content and use of the regulations book.

The course must be booked at least 48 hours prior to the training due to registration restrictions for the City & Guilds examination process.

What do I need to bring?

You will need to bring a copy of the 17th Edition Regulations Book for use during the training and the two hour open book exam.

At Capital Training (SW) Limited we offer the City & Guilds 17th Edition Wiring Regulations Course 2382 Update Course.   This 1 day intensive short course is designed to gain an understanding of the 17th Edition wiring regulations and become familiar with the layout, content and use of the regulations book.

When applying for the Update, learners should possess C & G 2381 16th edition qualification, C & G 2356, C & G 2330 Level 2 or 3 installation (building & structures) or equivalent, C & G 2360 Level 3 part 2, certificate must be from January 2004 onwards. C & G 2351 certificate in knowledge of electrical installation engineering.

Our Electrical training and its department adheres to City & Guilds requirements, therefore excellent facilities are in place for you to work through this intensive training course.

Basic Electrics

At Capital Training (SW) Limited we offer hands-on practical Electrical training.  This 2 day short course is designed so that you are involved at every stage and are participating throughout to acquire both knowledge and skills.All aspects of your training will be provided in our purpose built construction training centre.  This ensures the standard of training given by our highly skilled instructors is of the highest quality and is equal to everyone, regardless of age, ability or gender.Our Electrical training and its department adheres to City & Guilds requirements, therefore excellent facilities are in place for you to work through this training course.

No previous experience is required to take part in this course.  The course is suitable to anyone who is looking to complete a DIY project or who is looking to move forward and develop a career in electrical.

 

During the course you will be taught how to:
  • Safe Isolation procedures.
  • Basic domestic circuits
  • Replacing a plug top, connections, size of fuses and Faults. 
  • Changing Switches and Dimmers.
  • Changing Lampholders, pendants and flexes.
  • An overview of basic electrical cables, Fuses, MCB, and consumer units.

On completion of the course you will receive an in house certificate. Throughout your training all tools and equipment will be fully provided and demonstrated. You may bring your own tools and test equipment with no liability to Capital Training SW Ltd.

2391-10 - Inspection, Testing and Commissioning

Duration: 5 Days   9.00 am to 4.00 pm

This 5 day intensive short course is designed to involved you at every stage, participating throughout to acquire both knowledge and skills. All aspects of your training will be provided in our purpose built construction training centre. This ensures the standard of training given by our skilled instructors is of the highest quality and equal for everyone, regardless of age, ability or gender. Our Electrical Training Department adheres to City & Guilds requirements, with excellent facilities in place for you to work through this intensive training course. This course is aimed at the qualified domestic installer or qualified electrician, some previous experience is required to take part in this course. The course is suitable to anyone who is looking to complete a Level 3 Inspection, Testing and Commissioning Qualification.


Course Content

  • Complete necessary Certificates, Reports and Schedules.
  • Instruments, Checks, compliance and characteristics.
  • Test Sequence and all tests required.
  • Test results, appropriate Tables.
  • Practice exam questions.
  • 4 hour Practical Exam.
  • 2.5 hour written exam ( City & Guilds).

On completion of the course you will receive a City & Guilds 2391-10 certificate of competency.

Throughout your training all tools and equipment required will be provided and demonstrated. If you wish to bring your own tools and or test equipment you may do so, with no liability to Capital Training SW Ltd.

Details

This course is aimed at the qualified domestic installer or qualified electrician working towards 2391, working in the electrical industry, this includes company manager, supervisors, maintenance engineers and many more. It is also suitable for anyone with prior knowledge of electrical installation.

Aims
To gain an understanding of initial verification, inspection, testing and documentation for quality installation.

Need to Bring
Toe protective boots, overalls are optional. A copy of BS7671 17th Edition, On-site guide and guidance note 3.
